The prestigious award which measures the sea water quality has been maintained by both Mablethorpe and Sutton-on-sea resorts. The towns achieved the highest standard possible after a stringent testing process. The award also acknowledges the beaches’ excellent facilities, the safety measures in place and environmental education and management.
Coun Adam Grist, portfolio holder for leisure and tourism said: “Retaining the blue flag confirms that we have really great stretches of award-winning beaches. Knowing that we have some of the best beaches in the world gives potential visitors the confidence that when they come to East Lindsey they will be greeted by clean, well maintained beaches with good facilities.”
Both beaches in Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea join 3,450 blue flag holders in 41 countries.
