Young and old came together at The Dunes Complex in Mablethorpe today to take part in a special service to mark the 60th anniversary.
Ingoldmells residents asked to keep odour diaries after many reports of a sewerage smell. People living in a seaside resort are being asked to keep a diary noting whenever they smell sewage.Anglian Water said it wanted to solve the problem as fast as possible.
Traders in Ingoldmells, on the Lincolnshire coast, say the smells are deterring tourists. East Lindsey District Council said the odour diaries would help determine if an Anglian Water sewage plant is to blame, and potentially help the council to take legal action. Anglian Water said it wanted to provide a solution to the problem too. It has already spent hundreds of thousands of pounds trying to stop the smells. One guest house owner compared the smell to standing “at the side of an open sewer“.
Police are urging visitors not to use inflatables in the sea water after an Ingoldmells swimmer died after sea rescue near the Beachcomber pub, Ingoldmells. The woman was swimming in the sea near Roman Bank, Ingoldmells. A woman has died after being pulled from the sea in Ingoldmells, near Skegness. The 69-year-old got into difficulty while swimming in the sea near the Beachcomber pub on Roman Bank shortly after 12:00 BST. Police said her death was not being treated as suspicious. In a separate incident, two men were rescued from the water at Chapel St Leonards after their dinghy drifted out to sea.
